O Rancho Danças e Cantares de Portugal(The Rancho Dances and Songs ) was founded on March 18, 1978. The group is made up of an Adult Rancho and a Children’s Rancho.
It was founded by people from Minho living in the United States, with the goal of preserving the customs and traditions of Minho and promoting Minho’s traditional culture.
Thus, the purpose of this group is to introduce and share the many typical expressions of Minho’s culture — its traditional costumes, singing, and dancing — while encouraging young people to respect and value this heritage.
From the very beginning, the Rancho became an integral part of the club. Parents come to rehearsals to spend time with their children and watch them dance. Some parents also participate, helping with singing and playing the instruments.
Rancho was like a child within the PISC organization. Today, the Rancho has more than 100 members and is known around the world as a major reference in folklore. None of this would have been possible without P.I.S.C. For this reason, we want to congratulate the Board of Directors for their support, as well as all the members who have been part of the club and all those who continue to keep Portuguese culture alive.
The Rancho Dances and Songs of Portugal was founded by César Loureiro Rodrigues. In addition to being the founder, César Loureiro also served as director, instructor, and concertina player.
